Alaskan Yellow Cedar carved entry door
This is an entry door constructed for a large log lake home near Ely Minnesota. There are actually two of these doors on this house, one at the basement level and one on the main level directly over the first.
The entire entry door and frame is made of Alaskan Yellow Cedar. This type of cedar has exceptional resistance to weather and decay. It is very tight grained and wonderful to work with. This is a simple 42" wide plank style door with a gothic type arch. A simple carving of pinecones adorns the upper corners of the trim both inside and outside the house. A rustic, heavy plank door like this is just as much at home in the rock wall of the lower level as it is in the log wall of the upper level.
