'Wildflower' custom hand carved entry door

This entry door was built for a beautiful log house, built, not on a lake, like so many of them, but on some acreage south of here, Babbitt/Embarrass, MN country. It was an old homestead in a field of wildflower as grasses. Unless instructed more specifically by the home owner, I usually draw inspiration for a door from the surrounding area and environment. In this case, at the time, there ware many patches of goldenrod and other wildflowers, so I thought this would be appropriate. (The home owner left me to design this one on my own).

Initially I made a full pencil drawing of the carving for the owner's approval (I don't want to totally build an entry door without the owner having an idea what I am doing), and also because I thought it was a cool concept for a work of art and I do enjoy pencil drawings. This is actually framed now as one of my works of art and hangs in my house. The door is made of Maple. The main panel with the carving is curly maple. It is an oversized door, 38" wide, 2 1/4" thick.

The hardware is an arched thumblatch entry set from Rocky Mountain Hardware. The carving on this door appears only on the exterior. Inside it is just one large curly maple panel. There are actually two separate panels, one interior and one exterior, with a 1/2" layer of ridged polyicocyanurate insulation in between. The glass for the sidelights are 1/2" insulated tempered.
